1. NAME AND PLACE OF THE EVENT"Gran Trail Rensen" and "Trail Rensen" – Arenzano
Trail running race – Parco Beigua - Saturday 26th September 2009.

3. TRACKS
Two ring tracks in only one lap. Free speed and limited time. The is the same for all tracks. They unwind along the paths which connect the coast to the Apennine watershed, the so-called "Alta Via dei Monti Liguri" which is signalled by a white and red striped flag
- Grand Trail " Rensen": 70 km with 4,700 m change in height
- Trail "Rensen" COMPETITIVE: 40 km with 2,160 m change in height
- Trail "Rensen" NON COMPETITIVE: 40 km with 2,160 m change in height
4. CLASSIFICATION AND PRIZES
ALL THE PRIZES ARE IN KIND no money prizes will be awarded to the participants.
Rich race packet in kind for all participants
Prizes for the first 10 men and the first 5 women for the Gran Trail and the first 5 men and the first 3 women for the Competitive Trail.
5. CLASSES ADMITTED
People of all ages – men and women – are admitted to the race.
6. CONDITIONS FOR PARTICIPATION
The Trail is an individual race on the mountains in a self-autonomous state.
Refreshment points will be situated along the tracks.
Before leaving the refreshment points each competitor must supply himself with enough food and water to reach the following refreshment points.
Benefiting from people’s help is forbidden during the race. Personal care is only admitted at the official refreshment points.
Sometimes this sort of race takes place in difficult changes of level (1200 m) where you can meet different climate conditions ( night, wind, cold, rain).
A strong capacity in the personal management supported by a serious training are the main elements for succeeding.
No particular restrictions for participation, but taking part in similar trail runs is strongly recommended.
A sports medical certificate for agonistic practice is absolutely essential. The original document shall be handed over at the REGISTRATION OFFICE. If not the participant is not admitted to the competition. In this case the participant is not refunded the money.
7. ACCEPTANCE OF REGULATIONS AND RACE ETHICS
By registering and paying the fee the participant accepts without reserve these rules and the race ethics. Each participant must pay attention not to leave garbage along the tracks. He is kindly requested to use the dust-bins available at the refreshment points. If a participant breaks this rule he will be disqualified.
The participants must follow the signalled tracks without taking short cuts.
8. REGISTRATION FEE
- GRAN TRAIL RENSEN: €35.00 till 31.08.09; €40.00 till 20.09.09;
- COMPETITIVE TRAIL RENSEN and NON COMPETITIVE TRAIL RENSEN: €20.00 till 31.08.09; €30.00 till 20.09.09
For the "BEIGUA CHALLENGE: € 60 till 4.09.09; 70 € till 20.09.09
Registration deadline: 20th Sept. 2009
To register download the form available on the website and send it by fax to the following number: 011/4121870-011/19835747. Do not forget to enclose the payment receipt and the sports medical certificate for agonistic practice. If not the registration is refused.
To provide for the payment, you are requested to make a postal order addressed to: Polisportiva Arenzano – Sezione Atletica: C/C POSTALE No. 87611612.
At the REGISTRATION OFFICE the participants shall hand over the sports medical certificate for agonistic practice and sign the declaration.
The amount for the registration is not subject to taxation and is a contribution for the services (refreshments, etc.) and is not refundable.
9. ATHLETES MUST BE EQUIPPED WITH
At the moment you take back your pectoral number your equipment will be accurately checked;
- reserve water supply;
- front lamp with spare batteries;
- thermal sheet;
- whistle;
- food stock;
- water resistant jacket fit for mountain bad weather conditions;
- cap or head scarf;
- cell phone;
Furthermore we recommend ;
- wearing shoes fit for the race;
- spare clothes;
- sticking-plasters like "compeed";
10. PECTORAL NUMBER DISTRIBUTION
To receive the pectoral number the participant must show his Identity Card, Passport or Driving License.
For the Gran Trail, the pectoral number distribution starts at 3.00 pm on 26th September and finishes at 12.00 pm. For the Trail it starts at 6.00 on 25th October and finishes one hour later.
The pectoral number must be worn on the chest and must be visible for the whole race.
NB : each pectoral number will show a telephone number – the same for all participants – which is related to the "Rensen Service Centre" which will work throughout the race.
If necessary, all participants can call the "Rensen Service Centre" for help.
In case of withdrawal from the competition the participants are requested to let the organizers know about their decision by informing the checking points or by calling the "Rensen Service Centre".
Please, do not use this number improperly since it is an emergency number.
11. SAFETY AND MEDICAL ASSISTANCE
During the entire race and along the tracks check points will be present to check the participants. In addition there will be a radio/phone service connected with the central station "Rensen Service Centre".
First aid stations with medical/health personnel will be present at strategic points of the tracks to guarantee a timely support to competitors.
The medical assistants are authorized to evacuate competitors in danger.
In case of interruption of the race or withdrawal of the participants, the organization guarantees return to the starting point by means of a shuttle bus.
N.B. If the intervention of the Alpine Assistance or the 118 service is requested this sort of assistance will take the place of the organizers in the management of the rescue operations with their means of transport, including eventual use of a helicopter. The organization of the trail will not be charged with the eventual expenses due to the intervention, during and after the race, of external forces. It will be the rescued competitor to face this sort of expense.
12. CHECK POINTS AND REFRESHMENTS
We are drawing up a detailed plan about the race tracks (www.trailarenzano.com/roadbook.php) which is accepted in its entirety as part of these rules.
Thanks to the cooperation with the major Ultra-Trail runners the programme of the event will be detailed and it will include practical information such as time ….., refreshment points, place of assistance, and places open to companions. All that to guarantee the success of the event.
Competitors who during a check along the track are found not equipped will immediately be disqualified from the race without any possibility of appeal. "Flying check points", not communicated by the organizers, will be located along the track.
13. TIMES OF THE RACE
Departure of the different races:
Grand Trail " Rensen" – 4.00 am 26th Sept. 2009
Trail "Rensen" – 8.00 am 26th Sept. 2009
Maximum times for races:
Grand Trail "Rensen" : 20 hours
With barring gate after maximum 6 hours (10.00 am) Loc. Campo; after maximum 10 hours (2.00 pm) Loc.- Gava; after 15 hours (7.00 pm) Loc. Gava.
Trail "Rensen" : 12 hours
With barring gate after maximum 10 hours (6.00 pm) Loc.- Gava;
Stop-and-go barriers, afterwards communicated by means of "info-gara", are localized along the tracks to make the participants able to reach the arrival point by the maximum times foreseen. To be authorized to go on their run, participants must leave the check point before the time foreseen (leaving out the time the competitors reached the check point).
Participants who, after their exclusion from the race and giving back their pectoral number, want to go on with their run, will continue at their own risk and danger in complete autonomy.
In case of poor weather conditions and/or for reasons of safety, the organization is entitled to suspend the trial, to modify the track with "nothing owing" to the participants.
14. PENALITIES – DISQUALIFICATIONS
Depending on the information gathered on the participant’s behaviour the jury can decide for his disqualification.
Particularly the jury can disqualify the participant if:
- the pectoral number is worn in a way not conforming the race rules;
- he fails to pass through a check point;
- he benefits from means of transport;
- he does not respect the times foreseen (barriers);
- doping or refusal to undergo an anti-doping test;
- he fails to help other competitors in danger;
- he benefits from personal assistance outside the authorized places;
- he breaks the rules by being accompanied along the route;
- he does not respect nature;
- his behaviour towards the organizers is not polite;
- he refuses to undergo a medical examination during the race;
For other sorts of faults a one-hour penalty is foreseen.
15. ANTI-DOPING TESTS
For the duration of the whole race all the participants may undergo an anti-doping test.
The eventual refusal of the check means immediate disqualification from the race. A positive result will be signalled to federation the runner belongs to.
16. CLAIMS
Written claims are accepted within 60 minutes after publication of the temporary results. They will be followed by a payment (€ 50). If the claim is accepted the runner is refunded the expenses.
17. THE JURY
It consists of:
- the race director;
- the coordinator and person responsible for safety;
- the medical team responsible;
- the head of the check points;
- the person responsible for the tracks;
Moreover, all the qualified people signalled by the president of the Committee for the organization can be heard to deliberate on such matter.
The decisions about quarrels and disqualifications during the race will be taken in a time consistent with the race obligations. The decisions are irrevocable.
18. MODIFICATION TO THE TRACKS AND TIME BARRIERS. CANCELLATION OF THE RACE
The organization is entitled to modify at any moment the tracks or the localization of the refreshments and assistance points without notice.
If the weather conditions are poor (cold, rain, risk of storms…) the departure can be postponed 2 hours. Beyond this time the race is cancelled.
If the weather conditions are poor or for safety reasons the organization is entitled to suspend the race or to modify the time barriers.
Every decision will be taken by a jury which consists of at least the race director and the coordinator and person responsible for safety and by all the qualified people signalled by the president of the organization committee.
19. RESPONSIBILITY
The organization will have insurance for civil responsibility for the whole period of the race.
on their own responsibility and renounce any claims to the organization which refuses any civil and penal responsibilities for what may occur before, during and after the race to each participant and/or things.
20. RIGHTS TO PICTURES AND DATA HANDLING
Each participant expressly renounces the right to pictures during the race just as he renounces any right to appeal against the organizer and his recognized partners for any use made of his her pictures.
Furthermore with the registration the participant authorizes data handling in accordance with the Italian law 675 of 31/12/1996.
